Master Reese has competed in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, West Virginia, Canada, and Portugal earning 75 first places, 62 second places, 41 third places, and 18 Grand Champion Titles.
What are the experiences as an instructor or teacher?
Master Reese has been a local public-school teacher for 9 years, teaching students from 1st-12th grade. He currently teaches technology to 3rd thru 5th grade students.
Master Reese has assisted his 2nd and 3rd Martial Arts instructors with classes and ran classes independently.
He has instructed classes from 5-year-olds up to 65-year-olds in the same class.
He has assisted his instructors and students in winning numerous titles at the local level up to international level tournaments.
He has run a weapons (staff) course for his 3rd instructor creating numerous grand champions in tournaments.
What is the purpose of the training? Competition? Self-defense? Or fitness?
Tae Kwon Do at MTR Martial Arts mission is personal self-betterment. Our goal is to teach the self-defense art of Tae Kwon Do by installing the tenants and lifestyle into our students to make them better citizens in their community. Students will develop better fitness through their training in Tae Kwon Do by stretching, endurance, developing focus and self-discipline. Our students will be presented the opportunity to compete and test their skills against other schools and styles, however students are NOT required to compete.
How do you acclimate new students to the class?
Our new students are acclimated to our classes with our 4 commitment-free classes. Students will learn basic techniques and class procedures to ease the transition into the group class setting.
What is the tuition, test, and tournament fees and how is payment set up?
Tuition is $100 a month due the first of each month. There are minimum documented costs for uniforms and testing.
We accept cash, checks, or cards.
There are no long-term contracts, tuition is paid on the first of the month. No penalties for time off or leaving the school.
Tournament fees depend on each tournament. Students are NOT required to compete, but opportunities are presented.
What is the rank Structure and how often is testing?
We have 12 gups (levels) before earning Black Belt.
Testing is scheduled for every 3 months until Red Belt, then it is increased to 6 months.
Blackbelt ranks are 1st-9th degree.
What style do you teach?
Our core curriculum is Traditional Tae Kwon Do.
We add principles and elements from Master Reese’s experience with Tang Soo Do, Shotokan, Kung Fu, Hapkido, and Sport Karate to complement Tae Kwon Do
Who will be instructing classes at MTR Martial Arts?
Master Reese is the owner and head instructor; he is an active participant in class and will lead all classes.
Guest instructors are invited to assist in the development of our school. Master Reese will be always present during class.
Who owns MTR Martial Arts?
MTR Martial Arts is independently owned by Master Reese.
This is not a chain martial arts school or focused on money-driven programs.
